Caçandoca Beach & Quilambola Cultural Tour

Duration: 5 hour(s) - Location: Ubatuba
During this tour, guests will get the opportunity to learn a bit more about history of Brasil and visit the clay houses of the people in the Quilombola village; see what they do to live and even help them, buying some handicraft and eating some food they will prepare.
A little explanation about the African arrival in Brazil:
The Africans came to Brazil as slaves in the very beginning of Brazil's development, around 1530, to help in the sugar cane cultivation and they were forced to work very hard in farms and small villages in very poor conditions. Most of them received only small portions of food and were punished severely when did not obey their "owners." Some of them tired of this sad condition, escaped to remote places and originated small villages, where they lived hidden from the farmers and ate only what they had planted, fished or hunted. These villages were called "Quilombos."

So, in Caçandoca Beach in Ubatuba, they still live in this unique way, close to an incredibly well-preserved Atlantic Rainforest and a beautiful white, sandy beach. It's a small community living in a very simple way of life: they plant vegetables to eat and fish only what they will eat, they respect the environment in the way they live. You will meet these fascinating people that are trying to live and preserve their beliefs and traditions of years past.
