Simone and Papy

Simone and Papy, the owners, are physical educators and used to live in SP. They always loved to spend vacations in Ubatuba and dreamt of building a hotel and living in this paradise. They bought some land and began the construction of their lovely place, opening to the public in 1996.

They continued to live in SP during the week, commuting on weekends to run the hotel, until 2003, when they finally moved to Ubatuba permanently to fulfill their dream. They continue to renovate, innovate, and improve Hotel Portal da Palmeira with their guests' comfort in mind.

They are very special people who love nature, love to dance (they are also dance instructors) and love a good conversation with their guests. They know Ubatuba very well and are always available to suggest the best activities, tours, walks, and restaurants.

Hotel Portal da Palmeira is concerned about the environment and has adopted some important energy conservation policies including solar energy panels, energy-saving lighting, and light sensors in the hotel's common areas. They have also implemented a programme of water reduction. Signs posted in guest rooms offer the option of changing the towels less frequently. Employees are trained in simple daily water- and energy-saving practices with surprising savings.

The owners help support the community by hiring locally and providing on-the-job training including customer service, food handling and preparation, and restaurant service, to improve their skills. They also donate food, clothing and linen to the local orphanage.
