Pousada Mar Azul
Sustainability
Ciro, the owner, used to live and work in São Paulo, but had fallen in love with Ubatuba a long time ago and always kept a vacation house for his family here. He decided to trade in his stressful city life for a calmer and healthier one and moved to Ubatuba.
Since that time, his amable family has been ready to help guests have a wonderful and memorable time in this idyllic city, giving suggestions and information about interesting places and activities. His wife, Rosangela, is an excellent cook and prepares delicious cakes and breads for breakfast.
Caring for destination
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Sustainability and environment
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Pousada Mar Azul supports sustainable tourism by employing local people. Training is provided for specific job responsibilities as well as in the areas of hygiene and water and energy conservation.
Waste is recycled in order to help preserve the environment while supporting a local social organisation. Plastic bottles and cans are separated and donated to a project that creates bags, clothing and all kinds of handicrafts from recycled materials.
The owners are always involved in social concerns in the city, helping the orphanage and the public hospital.
